Newsletters for the letters T-Y feature subscribers who each volunteered to adopt a letter, select a word, explore the topic with a project, and then write about the experience. If you want details on the why and how behind this, check out the Quest post.
With that, I want to introduce Abby Stemper who has chosen yummy as her word. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Abby the entire time I’ve been at Year Up, as a teammate and collaborator. I hope you enjoy her project and writing as much as I do!
ALPHA BITS
You can find the full post for yummy here and also on the homepage. Here’s more info on Abby’s project:
The illustration was inspired by my love of eating bites of lots of foods and the pleasing presentation of bento boxes.
Abby shares her path around inspiration for the project, from exploring the word’s etymology to tapping into the nostalgia around Mr. Yuk poison prevention stickers.
I never heard of Mr. Yuk and I loved Abby’s insight to flip the sticker’s meaning and inclusively name its alter ego “Dr. Yum.”
Abby demonstrated resourcefulness in using Powerpoint in the sticker design and printing process. The results were fantastic as I can attest to the samples she sent me!
